Watch Netflix on Ubuntu 12.04

In the past, it was difficult at best to watch Netflix on a PC running Ubuntu. The reason is that Netflix uses HTML5 and Encrypted Media Extensions so as to prevent piracy. This required  access to various Network Security Services that were unavailable in previous versions of Ubuntu. However as of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and later, all of the above have been included.

As of this writing, all is needed to watch Netflix is to have the Chrome browser installed on your Ubuntu PC. You must have Chrome version 37 or later in order to have all the various libraries to run Netflix in Ubuntu.

As far as I know, Firefox doesn’t have the support needed to run Netflix. At least this is a step in the right direction.
